Old Renovation

Professional landscaping has many benefits in addition to adding color and accent to your property.  It can reduce energy costs, protect your home from winter winds and summer heat, reduce lawn maintenance, and help control noise and air pollution.  Renovation may be required on older landscaping when a new design is desired or when plants have died or become overgrown.  We can design and install an artistic or fundamental landscape plan to meet your needs.  We use the best equipment available to provide you with the best service, giving you more work for less money.

After the design, landscaping consists of several stages:

  • Developing contour of soil
  • Edging
  • Weedguard
  • Installation of plant material
  • Covering

With the design in hand, the next step is developing the contour of the soil.  Contouring is the shaping of the bed to allow artistic depth.

Edging is important to add a clean and crisp look to your landscape.  The most common selections include a natural cut, steel, aluminum, brick, or stone.  Working with your design, we will recommend the best choices available for aesthetics and durability.

A commercial fabric weedguard will hinder the growth of most weeds, while allowing water to penetrate.  This is recommended with most landscaping plans except when groundcover is used.  If you have selected ground-covering plants that will spread, the weedguard would hamper their growth.

The selected plant material is installed.

A covering will enhance and protect your plants.  The recommended coverings include mulch, stone, and ground cover.  Ground cover is the lowest cost but will require maintenance to keep it under control.  Mulch adds a natural earth accent with choices of hardwood, cypress, dyed, or pine needles.  New mulch will be needed yearly.  Decorative stone is also an option.  The cost can be three to four times higher than mulch, but the long term cost may be less.  Stone is available in a variety of sizes and colors.

Once your landscape has been completed, a standard maintenance plan to keep it healthy and beautiful is recommended.  We also provide a lawn maintenance service to keep lawns and plants in their best condition.
