Retaining WallsA retaining wall may be the answer to enhance your landscape, build an interesting floral arrangement or reinforce a steep slope. We can design and build a wall to meet your specific needs or dreams - decoration, stability, or retaining. We use the best equipment available to provide you with the best service, giving you more work for less money.
The building of a retaining wall consists of several stages:
K.D. Landscaping will work with you to design the wall to meet your expectations. We provide choices of stone, keystone block, timber, concrete, or retaining wall. Each of these products has advantages and disadvantages. We will assist you in choosing the best product for your needs within a reasonable cost range. It is essential to identify underground utilities prior to building. K.D. Landscaping will mark the utilities prior to starting. Although we can determine the standard underground utilities, we do not know about invisible fences, sprinkler systems, landscape lighting, or other items installed by the homeowner. It is your responsibility to inform us of all other utilities prior to excavation. Excavation is the next stage. We will contour and shape the area to fit your design. This may require bringing in dirt, gravel, etc. to build and enhance the foundation. Once the land has been shaped, the wall will be built. This will take some time. Depending on the material chosen, it may take a few days for the wall to set and become stable. As the wall is built, a filling, called backfill, will be required behind the wall for support. Once completed, this will not be seen. It is used as a foundation and support. From excavation to cleanup, the building of the wall will require bringing in supplies and equipment. At times, this may result in damage to the yard. This is unavoidable when the ground is soft. In these circumstances, we make every attempt to minimize any damage. As the project nears completion, a quote will be given to fix any damage. This quote is not given up front, because weather and damage are unknown. |
